Styled for who she’s becoming, not just where she’s been
This sweet 16 surprise turned into something much bigger than a bedroom makeover
This project felt like watching a mom say, “I see who you’re becoming.”
A client of mine surprised her daughter with an organized bedroom for her sweet 16, and her reaction was more than she could have imagined.
Mom wanted a fully organized and styled bedroom that captured this in-between season—where her daughter is growing out of childlike toys, but not quite ready to let them go, and stepping into a more mature version of herself who aspires to live like an influencer.
From the start, it was clear this wasn’t just about organizing and styling a bedroom—it was about honoring the beginning of a new chapter.
We kept pieces of her childhood where it mattered, but layered in more structure, intention, and a sense of identity. Acrylic organizers to highlight what she loves, small vignettes that made her interests feel seen (not tucked away), and every drawer, hanger, and corner styled to reflect the trend-forward aesthetic she gravitates toward on Instagram.
At one point, this project took me back to my own teenage years—dreaming of a room styled like the pages of Vogue, color-coded like a craft room, and organized like my favorite retail store… a space that made you feel like “that girl.”
“That girl” had an unwavering confidence, enthusiasm for life, and a quiet optimism that everything would work out exactly as it should. Think Cher Horowitz from Clueless energy—trend-forward, expressive, a little whimsical, but still put together.
When she walked in… there were hugs, tears, and that moment you can’t really plan for—but feel lucky to be a part of.
Mom absolutely nailed it!
Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and if I were a betting woman, I’d say the joy her daughter felt was exactly the gift mom needed. To all the moms, soon-to-be moms, and women who pour into others—happy early Mother’s Day.
